M Edge Kindle Cover: Perhaps the Best Kindle Leather Cover
If you already spent a few hundred dollars on your Kindle, spending a few for the M Edge Kindle cover isn’t going to break the bank. Especially when you consider how vulnerable the Kindle is to scratches and scuffs when it isn’t protected. Even if you should damage the cover, you’re only hurt a $45 piece of leather, not your $300 electronic device. But with several covers available, one made by Amazon itself, you may be wondering if this cover is better or worse than the others.
The first thing you will notice is that the cover is nice, real leather. It has the soft texture you would expect from real leather as well. Whereas the Amazon cover feels a bit more like plastic, this cover is a joy for the fingertips. And it’s hard to deny the great smell of new leather, as strange as that may sound. But you also get a cover which offers internal pockets in case you need to take some paperwork with you. This specific cover comes with compatibility for the M Edge light as well, though the cover was released before the light itself.
There are some downsides to the M Edge Kindle cover, though. The biggest concern is the bulk it adds to the Kindle. If you love to travel with your Kindle it may pose a problem as the dimensions increase and the weight is certainly bumped up when the cover is on. It also detracts from the sleek electronic appearance of the Kindle. If you like the futuristic appeal of a slim electronic device, putting a leather cover reminiscent of old bound books may not be your thing.
And if there is one thing however, that the M Edge Kindle cover has in common with the Amazon cover, it is the sad fact that both covers could possibly crack the Kindle if you’re not too careful. This complaint is actually more common with the Amazon Kindle cover, but while the M Edge cover has been getting rave reviews from many users and it is one of the most popular covers, there have been a handful of dissatisfied owners who only recently have reported of getting their Kindles cracked. Obviously, it’s not a perfect accessory. But now that you have a better idea of what it can do, the M Edge Kindle cover still offers good value for your money and is definitely worth a try.

Nancy:
The cover attaches to the Kindle by tabs (there are slots in the Kindle that the tabs go into). While there is plenty of give and flexibility when you open the cover from the front, if you open it from the back, there is very little give. The result is if you open the back of the cover too fast or forcefully, the tabs crack the Kindle. You just have to be careful not to open the back of the cover and if you do, do it slowly and cautiously.

Can someone explain how the leather cover cracked their Kindle? I am not questioning this claim- just trying to understand it so I’ll know what to avoid when looking for one for my recently acquired Kindle.
Shannon:
Sorry to hear about your experience with the M Edge Kindle cover. At the time the review was written, I had not read any reports of people having cracked Kindles because of this cover. However, I noticed there were a few negative reviews on Amazon in the past month that have experienced cracked Kindles because of this cover.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I will update the review accordingly.
Thanks,

I have used only the M-edge cover with no light and it has cracked my Kindle. If I had known this was an issue I would not have used it. Stating this cover poses no such threat is not true because I have the proof in my cracked kindle and m-edge cover.
