Mobi worked for me with the Build format. BUT the figures are a mess (graphs in particular). Equations are poorly formatted with symbols missing. Text is fine – if you have an all text file this works great. I can read the book and go back to the PDF to check out graphs as needed.

An alternative which converts PDFs to smaller-sized pages optimized for a 6-inch reader is k2pdfopt. It is free and fully automatic. Google it and check out the example conversions. Also try wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_conversion.

This does work, but it takes out the page numbers. So, you have no way of knowing what page you are on. The main reason I bought a Kindle was to read PDF’s away from home. If I would’ve known that it didn’t handle PDF’s well, I would never have bought it. I just got it today, and I’m already thinking of returning it. I’m going to search for another reader, because I’m really disappointed with Kindle.
