Four years ago, the king of ebook readers, the Amazon Kindle, was released. Since then, the evolution of the device and Kindle books has been growing at an amazingly rate. The growth has been so significant that according to TheBookSeller.com, Amazon is selling more Kindle books than traditional books on their Amazon.co.uk website.
The UK website now sells over 240 Kindle books sold for every 100 hardcover books sold. And according to Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon.com, their US website has sold three times as many Kindle books so far this year as it did the previous year at this time. That’s amazing growth for a device and its ebooks that hit the market just four short years ago.
It should come as no surprise that the Kindle and ebook readers in general have become so popular. They are very affordable (the Kindle with Special Offers is only $114) and the cost of the ebooks are far less than their printed counter parts. And when it comes to convenience, nothing beats an ebook reader. You can carry an entire library of books in the palm of your hands – literally!
Now that the prices of these devices are so low and ebooks have gone more main stream, you can expect the sales of ebook readers and ebooks to continue to grow.
