Elie’s story offers more than just the specifics of the daily atrocities. It also presents insight into what the Holocaust was, what it represented, and philosophizes what its legacy will be. He is able to bring the reader back to when he was that actually teenager being brought to camp and the terror felt is as real as a reader can experience.
